An outdated post, due to exam period, i'm unable to update this blog but since i'm free now and no mood for studies (having freedom mood now).
I'd join this event as one of the volunteer under CV, volunteer under volunteer o_O! What's this event all about? Free food! xD
CYA camp is about bringing in selected secondary school students to Curtin University and letting them know about the life in university. There are volunteers that do day shift, night shift or even both.
My friends and I were all night shifters, due to exam period is near and we're at our study week. We couldn't afford to do the day shift or else we won't have time studying. Another reason, was we heard that we can order McD for supper =D *free* which eventually at the end its not free =( ... No hard feelings, at least i get to eat
5 course meal per day, but we night shifters only went for dinner. Which the mosquitoes fed on us as well ..
There's a few first time experienced in this camp, overnight in uni (from 8.30p.m - 6.30a.m - without sleep) for 2 days, seeing the beautiful sunrise...and another spooky thing happened.
On the 2nd night, we just reached campus and heard 2 loud screams, we thought it was coming from the Recreation Hall where students are having activities. Till we saw some staff and senior advisors ran towards LT 201. *now i'm typing, i still have some goosebumps*. Someone was on hysteria, having around 8-10 people grabbing the girl and calming her down. Soon after that another 2 got affected. Well, this is the first time for me to experience this kinda of these which i don't see it back in west malaysia. Maybe because i'm not from government school. But then again, i went through so many camps at various schools and forest but this did not occur.
Overall, though we do not have fun with the students (day shift interacts more with them), we nightshifters just guard them to sleep =P but at least we have some fun la, i think? haha. Well i definitely did, i went to the closing ceremony and we dance, shuffle and stuff, seeing those cheerful faces! So WHAT'S NEXT?
