Campus and Hostel

The 2nd day we reach Miri, had a good night sleep in Imperial Palace Hotel, comfortable beds and good services. Before we came, we called for the car rental companies around Miri to compare prices and chose Trackways (will blog about it later), So on the 2nd day we arrive at Miri, the car rental guy Mr. Ko came to the hotel to pass the car to us. It was much easier to travel around.

First thing after getting the car was going to campus. I had previously noticed the Housing Service that i will arrive at their place at 10a.m to register. It wasn't a good start of the day because my phone's Garmin GPS did not have Curtin University/Senadin, whereas my mom's GPS had it (installed at different place). So basically, i got conned by the phone shop in Digital Mall!

Mr. Ko told us that it's all the way straight from Town to Senadin. Nonetheless, we still used the GPS just in case something goes wrong and tried to memorize the road. It was really straight road after all, except the few turns in to Curtin University. From the housing area (Curtin Villa and Village) to Curtin University, the road was huge piece of greens from both side of the view (photo above). What i'm thinking was, Curtin in a "Sang Ka La place" (not developed place).

On my way to Housing Service, they name all diff zones as bird's name. So this place was Prinia 1,2,3. This place really gives me a campus feel like the ones in Aussie, unlike Taylor's Lakeside Campus, NOT like a campus at all. More like a shopping mall/Restaurant complex with class rooms.

It started drizzling and couldn't capture much photos. This is an area behind Prinia where i heard they play Frisbee here. What disappoints me was lack of maintenance for the field. You could see vehicle tracks on the field and water clog creating mud.

We called Simon (a staff in Curtin), a very helpful guy he is. He helped me with the registration and even give us a campus tour! Here above is one of the lecture hall and below is 'Noisy' zone for library.

We rented a Proton Wira for RM100 per day, at least it was cheaper than renting a car in the Airport. Those are completely chopping your head for the price.

After lunch, we went to Curtin Villa and checked in to my room. Well, that makes me a Villian ain't it. >=). It was kinda troublesome at first to enter with a car, the guards will check your car but they were just doing their jobs for student's safety.

The common area. Everything was well equipped. No complains.... until i really live inside, then i will realize the loop holes, maybe?

My room! A deluxe room, couldn't get the standard room as it was fully booked. Standard room was small, like a size of a store room!

Till then.
