Empowering Loving Parents Seminar
Months of promoting, tiredness, happiness, conflicts. The ELPS on 26th May is finally here. After all the hardwork and tolerance, we have come to this day, a day we are looking forward to.
First of all, i'm glad that Albert ask me to join his project as one of the committee member. We have gone through many things, from good to bad and we've lost a few committee members in the process, due to assignments, unable to cope but still we have many that stood firm and remain. What i learn? well, till end..
Kw and I was in charge of the food on the seminar, due to lack of budget, we have to cook for the participants. That's not just it, this is our seminar, but we have to pull in other non-committees to help cooking. Yiing and nic was able to help us to cook and i think, without them, we'll never be able to cook in time. It was really tough, as we have wake up really early to cook and not having enough time to cook (rushing all the way). Kw even have to cook 5 pots of rice the night before. Another 2 person we really have to thank is sin nee and ze ru which provide us transportation.
(the cats sitting outside Kw's house giving those innocent look when they smell we cook good foods).
Missed the morning session's photo when i'm busy 'cooking'. We sent the food to campus and went back home to shower. When we went to campus later on, hoping to taste our own cooking but couldn't. Unexpectedly, we thought that our food will have many leftovers, turn out that the foods were all gone!
Is that a good news or bad? Good - food is great! everyone grab everything. Bad - Not enough portion for everyone....hmmm?
This may seem to be unbelievable, rub your eyes again and look. This guy actually wears pink? After all these years, this is the first pink shirt i own. I regretted that i didn't buy the pink shirt with a DSLR picture in Padini last year. Sad sia..
The last speaker giving the talk, while committees are required to enter the hall.
It was kinda disappointing that during the forum session, most of the parents are already gone and there are only remaining of around 5 mothers participating.
Our team and the speakers.
Finally, the day have ended and everyone was dead tired. I even have to rush home and prepare for another camp later on at night. Which is really tiring (though i'm writing this blog post now, as my duty is night shift).
I have learn things from this event. I learn that we took for granted of a lot of things, being over confident, everything gone from peace to chaos when we couldn't find enough participants or sponsors. Our most important symbol for this event did not appear, T-shirt due to not enough budget? (asking committee to pay the amount will settle isn't it?). In short, i have more dissatisfaction in this project.
I learn to communicate with people from different ranks. Learning to pursue people to come from our seminar, sitting down with them slowly explaining about the event. Getting rejected by people when we approach them, but we still have to? SMILE... my god that was hard.

CV! Outing
19/05/2012, Saturday
The event that i've been waiting for, since the starting few months back when i was asked to become the photographer. Most of our villa group became the committee member for this event.
-Owning a dslr doesn't mean you are a professional photographer, there's much endless things to learn.
The event was held at Esplanade, another beach! Now, i'd gone to Tanjong and esplanade, two more Miri beaches to go. Esplanade was so much better than Tanjong, cleaner and bigger =) I heard that every CV outing, it'll rain. Not this time i guess, can we say that we're lucky that it didn't rain? The day was real hot and sunny which i very much like it when i'm at the beach. Jumping into the warm sea water..
Wind was huge as well, balloon from the game station was flying around and popping everywhere!
Participants are required to find their group and go to every game stations, points are collected as at the end of the day, prizes will be given. This station was the most hilarious among all, they have to shout out to their team mate (at the other side far away) to describe "titanic"... somehow, the naked drawing part came to their mind o_o
When you are at beach, you don't only do work... relax time! Taking photos of smaller groups =P
Another game which you have to grab as many balloons, blowing....and............. chasing balloons that are 'naughty' which flew away.
Saw some clams on the beach, and wondered... we're having BBQ, why not just grab and bbq them =) Turn out to be darn fresh though its small.. haha.
The number game which i don't know how it works but doesn't matter, you'll get wet in this game.
Final game of the day, where committees will be participating as well. Water balloon! You will never want to miss this. But! ! ! We have to clean up those mess (real mess) after the fun. keep the beach clean! There's a few times that my camera got splash by water, lucky it wasn't that bad..
After playing water balloon, playing/swimming at the sea, throwing mud balls, and shower. Its time to have our well, what should i call that... dinner? Barbecue! I was hoping to have lamb on hand and a bottle of whisky to flambe =D i miss barbecue at home...
Sunset pictures that cannot be missed. =)
Always wanted to do the silhouette 'meditation jump' and finally after a few attempts we get the perfect shot. I actually can see sunset here, as in seeing the sun vanished 'into the sea', the last time i saw such sunset is in Aussie? I would love to come back here, lay down on the beach and admire the sunset till its gone. May be i would do that after my exam? hmmmm
At the end of the day. The photographers (not only me) took the challenge to take this particular group photo. Reason? It was really dark for our camera to see and there is just limited lights. Everyone is having trouble focusing on the group.. Our lens just kept turning to find a focusing point..wtf.

A Thousand Mile
The stress of exam is coming, the days of sorrow are there somehow. We have to overcome these by having a smile =) Smiles are contagious, so when you smile at another person, you pass all the wonderful benefits of smiling on to that person. A heart that wants to see you smile again from your moody mood.

A yes!
When you get so bored of the places to eat around you, you wanted something new, you miss other places' food. Now i feel that when i'm outside here in Miri, i didn't really appreciate the makan place around me when i'm in KL.
I'm always bored with food, wanted something new, something different! Now the makan place around me is so limited that i can even count it with my own fingers. Luckily.. something exist, though its far.. but it is familiar.
Shilin (士林) came to Boulevard, Miri! How i miss the mee sua though taste is a bit different, i don't mind! I've been waiting for my chance to get my hands on this when i saw people posting on FB saying that they have a branch in Miri. 'Happy Die Me'
Om Nom from the game cut the rope... Soo cuteee! I feel like buying one before going back K.L, hmm should i?

CV! Beach Cleaning
12/05/2012, Saturday
When it comes to Curtin Volunteers' event, i'm usually there, usually.. CV! Beach cleaning is one of the big events held every year and i was doubting whether or not to go, assignments and projects are just there creating a barrier. Forget about it, this is something you don't get everyday!
Destination is to Tanjong Beach! I'm a beach person but back in KL? I don't really have a gang to go beach with me, they didn't like beach or their parents don't allow. Finally i get to step on those smooth white sandy beach! Jumping on waves like a kid.
I remember the last beach i went was Penang's one in batu ferringhi, was that one dirty beach! This was so much cleaner, same like the one in East Coast of West Malaysia =D. I would wanna sit there till sunset if i could!
This is the only time we'll be really happy and hyped up to look for rubbish as though its gold! The group with the most/heaviest bag of rubbish will win one of the hamper. Our group manage to find a tyre, but it requires some work to get it out from the huge log on it!
While we have some time before lunch, why not just take some jumping shots? =) I saw another group even jump themselves and 'bath' in the sea... i'm soo not gonna make my clothes wet this time..
A group photos with some of the craziest people in Curtin.
Tyre Team won prize! We don't usually pick rubbish, but once we do, we win a hamper =D Thanks to all members and.... tyre..
At the end of the day, this is our results of the day. I heard this one lesser compared to last year. OMG. We've done our best..to have fun! hahaha..
I'm so gonna come back to this beach one day, for 1 thing, Barbecue. There were so many bbq pits at this beach and people are just bbq-ing pork, succulent meat, sausage while we are busy picking up rubbish. I feel so hungry while doing work...as always =3
so...tired.... slept for 4 hours straight later on... zzzz

Happy Mother's Day
Even i've some outdated post, i'll have to upload this first. Happy Mother's Day to every mothers out there and also my mom. Have you done something meaningful or wish her on this particular special date?
I've 3 cards to choose from when i enter the gift shop, but this particular card is the one with most meaningful words and it says what i wanted to say. I wouldn't be able to celebrate mother's day this year unless... i take a flight back to west malaysia? haha.

YT's Birthday
8th May 2012, Tuesday.
Our villa's beloved mei mei will be out from the 'teen' world from today onwards. We threw a small birthday celebration for her while hoping she doesn't realize what we gonna do. Everyone was hyped up and busy thinking what to cook for the celebration, yet i couldn't think of anything because sad thing to say, i don't cook in Miri. Then, yiing gave me an idea which i didn't thought of it, making salad.
The only salad i can think of? learned from my beloved uncle that is skillful in culinary.
Nuggets, meatballs and broccoli with tofu+mushrooms. Dipping nuggets into mayonnaise was a right choice especially when you don't have tomato sauce! I actually ate more broccoli+tofu than other dish, I'm turning slowly turning into a vege person.
Aubergine (oh i like this name than Brinjal =3) cooked with eggs and chilly. It was mistaken to be minced meat at first, haha.
Sour spicy soup? which i forgot what is the name of this soup. Very appetizing and yummy with the egg spread so smoothly but with lots of traps (mushrooms).
What i made was potato salad with pear and oregano. Not good enough, the potato was not soft enough. My friends actually asked me to put more pear instead of potato. At the end of the dinner, we couldn't finish the salad because we're bloated. We play a game of scissors paper stone where losers will have to eat a scoop of salad =D
We did manage to make YT out of the house (go back her house to get something), so we can prepare the cakes and stuffs. Photographers just prepare and testing to get a good shot. Tyler kept tricking us that YT is coming back, make us panic...wtf. Cakes are: blueberry yogurt cheese, green tea and espresso cheese.
The birthday girl with all of us that celebrated her birthday. Happy 20th Birthday, mei mei! Welcome to the world of 20's.
End with a flame of love from all of us =)

Empowering Loving Parents (Promoting)
On 26th May, we'll be having a seminar on "Empowering Loving Parents". On this day, we went churches to promote our event. It was a whole day event for some of us, some left early during lunch time. From as early as 7a.m, we left Senadin to the 1st church (Mater Dei catholic church). We joined them for Sunday Mass and this is my first time going to a catholic church and it was really different from the churches i went before. Didn't take any photo of us promoting in Mater Dei due to 'I want to sleep!!!" mood, waking up so early was really a turn off for me.
Whenever i go to church, i have this feeling that will move my heart a little, whenever the sing in a huge group, i like how it is.
Continue working after lunch at St. Joseph, everyone was really tired and some of the committee members had to go home because they have something to do / did not sleep the day before. Left few of us but we still continue to promote.. End of the day, we got another 4 participants and we had created awareness to people.
2 small tables for us to promote our event, while waiting for the mass to end. Even before it starts, we go all around the church, targeting those parents.
Promoting this early was a turn off until i saw a few cute kids that kept following us. Especially this little girl, she was posing behind the pole all the time <3 kids are just so cute when they smile =)
This kid is... 1 smart kid. He roughly knows how to play with my DSLR, spamming shots like crazy (i had to delete all photos later on x_X). This kid is tech savvy, even knows how to play with iPad, all the games we dunno how to press, he knows... We tried to stop him from playing when his mom calls, we shut down the whole thing and said "No more battery"... Smart enough, he on it back again saying got battery!
Wind was real strong, our banting kept falling till we got fed up!
Our committee along with marketing club that collaborated with us to promote. All in red =)
Evening, while waiting for St. Joseph's 5p.m Mass, we went to have our tea break. Miri Taiwanese Noodle house. I called for the beef noodle (RM8), and my god! This was actually good! Maybe because been few months i have not eaten any nice food. This makes me crave for Malacca's beef noodle...darn. This restaurant's food is not bad but the price is really expensive, higher compared to KL.
We complain a lot, saying that we are working so crazily, from 7a.m-7p.m, we somehow think its pointless. At the end, we achieve what we wanted though not good enough, but there is achievement. If we give up in the middle, we will never get these few participants.
